The Black Panther (2018)
T’Challa, a member of the royal family of the fictional African country of Wakanda, holds the title, of Black Panther. Following his father’s death, T’Challa ascended to the throne and assumed the role of Black Panther. Avengers: Infinity War (film) (2018)
The 1992 comic by Jim Starlin greatly influenced Avengers: Infinity War. It’s straightforward to see why Avengers: Infinity War is Marvel’s best movie, with an excellently structured plot, some of the best acting in the MCU, and a good number of truly strong emotional moments.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Marvel’s run of kung fu comics in the 1970s was racially stereotypical and often tiresome, but they gave us this quick, fun adaptation, so there’s some redemption. An almost entirely Asian cast creates an origin story that pays homage to classic kung fu, wuxia, and Hong Kong action while never sacrificing fun. Simu Liu is a fantastic hero, and it’s about time the MCU went karaoke.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (film) (2017)
Recapturing the magic of the first film was always going to be difficult after the sugar rush of the first. Despite its wit, speed, and Kurt Russell as a swaggering dad with secrets, the second film feels underwhelming. It doesn’t even have a plot until about halfway through, just a bunch of amusing scenes

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
While it falls short of Ragnarok’s laser-focused anarchy, Taika Waititi’s two-hour romp of Norse action is packed with gags and features Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. However, the (relatively) short running time makes Jane Foster’s reintroduction as the Mighty Thor feel rushed, contributing to a shapelessly-plotted Phase 4 entry that’s as frustrating as it is fun.

There’s no radioactive spider bite, no “wow, I can lift a car now” moment in Homecoming. This is about a young man trying to figure out what to do with the power he’s already accumulated while also navigating the pitfalls of everyday adolescence. It’s light, breezy, and a little sloppy.
